Color Analysis is big again.
That’s great, but of course, there are some downsides—the misinformation, wildly inconsistent results among analysts, etc.
But most importantly, it is big again!
I recently talked to a friend about when I first discovered color analysis. Most people remember it quite clearly. I certainly do.
At the risk of outing my age, I discovered it in high school, many years ago.
And I remember the exact moment vividly.
I was walking into art class. Two girls near me were talking about me in an not-so-subtle way. They were popular girls, but not necessarily ‘mean girls,’ so I couldn’t understand why they were talking about me so overtly (I was very sensitive and introverted, even more than I am now).
All of a sudden, one of the girls, “Lora, you’re an Autumn”.
Confused, I said “what?” And they showed me the book “Color Me Beautiful” by Carole Jackson.
I’m not overdramatizing when I say that my world changed that day. I was enthralled with everything about that book – the illustrations, the real life examples of people wearing their right and wrong colors. Most importantly, I was thrilled to understand why colors I loved, like pastel blues and pinks, did absolutely nothing for me. The reason why was because I was an Autumn!
The world made sense. In fact, it also explained something I had found peculiar since I was in 7th grade. For certain times of the month, (all women can relate as to why), I wanted to wear a big long sweater. We did not have money, so for those times I needed it, I wore one of my dad's cardigan sweaters that was so old it was kind of hip again. It was brown and somewhat itchy, but it was oversized and did the job I needed it to. And I would get compliments “that color looks good on you!” I didn’t understand why, but I had to admit it did blend in nicely. So I kept it for years, because seriously, who doesn’t want compliments?
And every single human I would look at I had to analyze them, as I do to this day.
The original Color Me Beautiful system from the 80s was only 4 seasons. For me, I maintained being an Autumn til this day. I was a “Warm Autumn” when CMB moved to 12 seasons. Even now, in my 28 ColorBreeze Seasons, I’m still a Warm Autumn.
As I’ve mentioned many times before, many, if not most people, did not fit so neatly into four seasons. And even the 12 seasons. This is why my ColorBreeze system fits more people – accurately – into more categories.
Whether you definitely know your season or are still unsure, I’d love to hear about the very first time you heard about color analysis to share with all of my readers!
Fyi: I’m wanting to engage my readers more on my website. I want to hear from you! Your stories, your concerns, and pretty much anything related to color analysis. An various pages of my site, if you see an invitation to contribute, feel free to do so. Each month I will be giving away a free gift to one lucky person, chosen at random.
For this page, the winner will receive one of my scarves, in the season of her choice.
